Changes regarding Homeowner Protection Act Regulation

Changes to the Homeowner Protection Act Regulation have now been made to create an enhanced licensing system for BC residential builders. All licensed builders will be required to take Continuing Professional Development Courses in areas related to the residential construction industry as a condition of renewing their license each year. Before BC Housing – Licensing and Consumer Services can issue a residential builder’s license, new applicants (classified as general contractors who will be constructing single-family homes and small residential buildings in British Columbia under Part 9 of the BC Building Code), are required to meet a new qualification standard.
